In celebration of the Sesquicentennial of Evergreen and to showcase the historical parts of "Annie Get Your Gun" that relate to the Wild West and Colorado, Ovation West has created a series of pre-show and post-show opportunities to engage with local historians, authors, and Indigenous educators to learn more about the historical aspects of the show. Ovation West is collaborating with the Buffalo Bill Museum, History Colorado, and other authors, advocates and historians to create conversations that bring this historical show into a modern context. Artifacts from the life of Buffalo Bill and Annie Oakley


To celebrate opening night, Colorado’s Buffalo Bill Museum will be bringing artifacts from their collection. Many of these artifacts on not regularly on display at the museum. Everyone in attendance at opening night will also receive one free ticket to go to the Buffalo Bill Museum.

Historical Truths & Inaccuracies



Join our new Resident Director, Tim Kennedy, for a pre-show presentation starting at 4:00 pm. Mr. Kennedy will explore some of the history behind the production of "Annie Get Your Gun" as well as some of the historical truths and inaccuracies.

Federalized Indian Boarding Schools


During an after show talk-back, Philip Gover, Senior Director of Tribal and Indigenous Engagement at History Colorado will be sharing some information about the boarding schools, their historical significance during the time period of our show and some upcoming opportunities History Colorado will have to explore this subject.

Figure in History



During an after show talk-back, Director of the Buffalo Bill Museum, Jaqui Ainley Conley will join us to talk about the Legend of Buffalo Bill and why he is one of the most written-about figures in American history. She will also share some historical information about Annie Oakley and her time in the Wild West Show.
