Ovation West Performing Arts presents Songs For a New World, the debut musical from Tony Award® winning composer Jason Robert Brown (The Last Five Years, Bridges of Madison County, Parade.).
Through a moving collection of powerful, poignant songs and a vibrant series of character-driven vignettes —featuring figures from Betsy Ross to a rising basketball star to Mrs. Claus—Songs For A New Worldspotlights individuals confronting their own “new world moments.” With music that moves seamlessly from romantic to comedic, from despair to moments of bravery, audiences are invited to reflect on the universal experience of what it means to stand at the threshold of change.

Insights with the Director
Join our Resident Director and Stage/Music Director for a pre-show talk offering insights into the history and the production details of the
Songs for a New World. These insights will give you more appreciation for the composer of the show, Jason Robert Brown and how this show was the launching point of his Broadway Career. Tim Kennedy will also give some details into the production elements of the show including choices of costuming, direction, and set and lighting design. This presentation will give you some secrets into the creation of the piece and this production.

Cast Talk-Back
After the show, join the cast of Songs for a New World for a chance to find out what it’s like to explore these “New World Moments” in Jason Robert Brown’s musical. Moderated by the Ovation West’s Resident Director, Tim Kennedy, the talk will give the audience a chance to explore the themes of the piece as well as ask questions of the cast about their experience with the production. Join us for a casual conversation and get to know these talented local performers!
