Ovation West announces AUDITIONS for a diverse cast of ADULT and TEEN ACTORS for the Broadway musical Little Women.

Please note: The production will have two casts.
- An Adult Cast comprising of adults ages 19 and above
- A Teen Cast comprising of teenagers ages 14-18.
The previews and performances will be shared by the casts with the Adult Cast performing 2/3rds of the shows and the Teen Cast performing 1/3rd of the shows. Each cast will also serve as understudies for the other cast.
Also, please note that this is a very physical show with great storytelling through movement. Callbacks will not require choreography, but will require all performers to be willing to show us the range of motion possible for your body.

Possible Video Auditions:
If you cannot make the October 17th or 18th auditions and wish to be considered, we will accept video submissions through end of day on October 17th. Please send a private YouTube link or Google Drive link of a video audition containing the two selections described below in the same video in an e-mail to our Stage Manager- alex (at) ovationwest (dot) org. Please make sure the video was filmed within the last 6 months.
Audition Requirements:
Please prepare two selections:
A cut (2 minutes or less) of a ballad from a traditional or contemporary musical that shows your lyrical singing.
A cut (2 minutes or less) of a ballad or up-tempo from a contemporary musical that shows some belt singing.
Both cuts should be memorized and you should bring sheet music appropriately marked for the pianist and in the key that you wish to sing them. Depending on time, we may hear one or both of your pieces. We are not requesting a monologue, but defintely want to see your acting through your songs.
Roles:
We are casting for the following roles:
Jo March
● Female-presenting – Playing age: 18-23
● Range: E3-A5, Belt to D5. Soprano or Mezzo
The second of the four sisters. A passionate and determined young author, struggling to find her place in the world. Independent and fiery, she rejects Laurie’s proposal before eventually becoming engaged to Professor Bhaer.
Meg March
● Female-presenting - Playing age: 20-30
● Range: Bb3 – Gb5B4. Soprano
● Doubles as Clarissa
The eldest and most traditional of the sisters. Prim and proper but romantic and sweet-natured. She marries, and has twins with John Brooke.
Beth March
● Female-presenting - Playing age: 17-24
● Range: A3-G5. Soprano
● Doubles as Rodrigo 2
The third of the four sisters. Timid and musical, Beth encourages and helps her sisters selflessly. Forms an unlikely friendship with the crotchety Mr. Laurence but tragically dies of scarlet fever in Act 2.
Amy March
● Female-presenting - Playing age: 14-24
● Range: B4-Gb5. Soprano
● Doubles as Troll
The youngest sister who yearns for a sophisticated life, Amy is the baby of the family and is used to getting her own way. Ladylike and elegant, she eventually marries Laurie.
Marmee March
● Female-presenting - Playing age: 40-55
● Range: Eb3-Eb5. Mezzo
● Doubles as Hag
Marmee is the backbone of the March family and manages to remain strong in spite of the difficulties she faces. She only reveals her true fears and pain when she sings.
Aunt March
● Female-presenting - Playing age: 50-80
● Range: E3-F5. Mezzo
● Doubles as Mrs. Kirk
A formidable and haughty great-aunt to the March sisters. Exasperated by Jo’s lack of propriety, she decides to take Amy to Europe.
Professor Bhaer
● Male-presenting - Playing age: 30-40
● Range: G2-F#4. Baritenor
A sensible German professor boarding with Mrs. Kirk. Persuades Jo that she is “better” than the “blood and guts stuff” she writes. Falls in love with, and eventually becomes engaged to Jo.
Theodore “Laurie” Laurence
● Male-presenting - Playing age: 18-26
● Range: Bb2-Bb4. Tenor
● Doubles as Rodrigo
Lonely and charming boy next door who becomes firm friends with the March family. Proposes to Jo but eventually falls in love with and marries Amy.
John Brooke
● Male- presenting - Playing age: Mid 30s
● Range: C#3-F#4. Baritone
● Doubles as Braxton
Laurie’s tutor. A reserved and hard-working young man who only shows his tender side when he falls in love with Meg.
Mr. Laurence
● Male-presenting - Playing age: 50-80
● Range: Baritone
● Doubles as Knight
Laurie’s grandfather. A stiff and stern elderly man who eventually shows his softer side and gives Beth the beloved piano that belonged to his dead daughter.
Rehearsal and Show Information:
Rehearsals will take place mainly in the Denver Metro area and in Evergreen from December 13-19, 2026 as well as January 4 – February 25, 2027 on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday evenings 7:00 – 10:00 pm and Saturday mornings (10:00 am – 1:00 pm) and afternoons (2:00 pm-5:00 pm).
Tech will take Saturday, February 13th (9:00 am – 5:00 pm with a lunch break) and February 15th – 18th with calls from 5:00 pm – 11:00 pm on weeknights.
Previews will be February 19- 24, 2027. (These will be split between the casts)
Show run is February 26 – March 14, 2027 with a possible extension of March 19-21, 2027.
Shows on Fridays at 7:00 pm, Saturdays at 4:30 pm and Sundays at 2:30 pm.

STIPEND: $150 - $400 for adult performers, commensurate with role responsibilities. The teen cast will not be paid.
